"Thanks for the tea, its perfect." She took another sip. "I should probably get home soon."

he took a sip of his own hot liquid, "yeah...um...your clothes should be dry soon, Or I could bring them to work tomorrow."

"That'd be ok, I guess," she said. It would look strange if he brought her clothes but it would probably look worse if she went home in his. "I can just wait till my clothes are dry, if that's ok."

he nodded, "sure...absolutely." he took another sip of his tea. he felt uncomfortable standing there shirtless and taking a deep breath eh smiled at her awkwardly and walked into the bedroom pulling out a white tshirt

Brit sank into one of the chairs in the kitchen and started rolling up the sleeves on the shirt again. She hadn't realised how much taller he was than her until she put on his clothes. "Is there more tea?" She called as she finished hers.

"yeah," he said coming out of the room and set his own cup down, "I'll get it." he reached out for her cup

She handed him her cup, her cold hand brushing his. "Your appertment is nice."

"thanks." he said with a little shrug. a few moments later he came back with a full cup for her, "your hands..." he handed the cup back, "you want some...help?"

She curled one hand around her hot cup, she hadn't even realized her hands were still cold. "um..sure," she said, holding her other hand out.

he sat down next to her taking her hand between his. he held it for a minute then started rubbing her hand between his,
"Sorry about this whole thing. it was stupid."

"No, it was fun." She insisted. "You couldn't have known that the water would be that cold. Besides, that's probably the most spontaneous thing I've ever done."

he chuckled, "well I'm glad you think of it that way."

She smiled and took another sip of her tea. "You've made this birthday perfect. Thank you."

Keller nodded, "yeah...it...it was." Suddenly he lost his appetite all together. He kept his eyes fixed on his large dirty hands.

Brit smiled back. "I think my hands are finally warming up."

"Are you okay?" Audrey asked softly.

Loren nodded letting her hand go," I'll check on your clothes" standing he walked to his dryer. They were. He pulled them out, " dry and toasty warm"


No he wasn't OK. He had tried so hard to not think of this for so long. He sucked in a breath as if he was going to say something but then thought better of it.

Brit grinned, "great." She stood and took her clothes from him. "Where should I put your pants and shirt?"

Audrey pushed the glass of water towards him. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have asked. That was a very personal question."

"it doesn't matter...just..toss them on the bed or something." Loren shrugged


Keller gave one nod, "Its...its ok." his voice broke over the last word

" 'kay," Brit left the kitchen and changed back into her clothes. Her clothes were still warm but his were more comfortable. She folded the pants and shirt and set them on his bed before walking back into the kitchen. "Good as new."

he smiled, "well thats good."

She smiled back. "I should probably head home, its getting really late and we have to work tomorrow."

"Sure...yeah." he said standing, "it was fun and happy birthday."

She stepped closer and gave him a hug. "Thank you for everything."

he hugged her back, "you are welcome. it was my pleasure."

She stepped back and smiled, "see you tomorrow," she said then headed to the door

he watched her leave and as the door closed behind her he felt a wave wash over him and lat out a long breath as if he had been holding it for a while

Ooc: what's going on with Loren?

Brit made it to the elevator before she realized she didn't have her keys. She patted all of her pockets then made the walk back to his apartment. She knocked on the door, embarrassed that she forgot her keys. They were probably sitting on the kitchen table.

"No, it's clearly not," Audrey said. "I'm very sorry."
There was a swift knock on the door and it was opened by the man. "Time for lights out."
Audrey stood and looked back at Keller. "Sorry."

Ooc: what do you mean?

Loren opened the door with a slight smile, "didn't expect to dear you back so soon."


Keller didn't look up as she left he just sat there on the floor. They said he would have a chance to wash up butr he didn't much care any more. Why had she asked that question? Wasn't that the question you never asked because there was always a tragedy on the other end?

Ooc. He seems really tense

"I forgot my keys," she said, with an embarresed smile. "I think I left them in the kitchen."

he stepped out of her way so she could come in. he had totally missed the too

She walked in and headed to the kitchen. "I thought they were on the table but I don't see them."

"Oh. I might have put them on the dryer when I put your clothes in." He looked around for a minute," yup." He said as he jingled the keys

"Great, I was afraid that I might have lost them in the water." She said as she reached for her keys. "I'm always losing them."

he chuckled, " we could just get your a key card embeded under your skin...you'd never loose it."

She shook her head. "I like having real keys, I guess I'm just a little old fashion. And having something embeded under your skin," she shivered. "It sounds painful."

"yeah no kidding," he said with a nod
