he smiled as well letting his hand fall after a minute, " I should go out and see if they are here." he said nodding towards the door. he took a deep breath and then started towards the door

"That's true," Jarid said, leaning back against the couch. "But he's just... I don't know. He's been this way as long as I can remember."

"I'll wait with you," she offered, following him to the door.

he smiled and stepping out again took her hand. this felt nice...really nice. it was only a few minutes before the cab came. he didn't want to go.

"What about your mom?" Paige asked. She assumed that his parents were divorced like her's

"My mom died when I was four. I don't really remember her," he shrugged.

"Maybe I'll see you tomorrow?" she asked. "Unless you've got tons of studying and homework to do, genius," she added, a little teasingly. But she had a smile on her face so he knew she wasn't being mean.

"I've never been but I'm thinking I just might get grounded for this." he said with a shrug, "but I...I for sure will see you Monday." he squeezed her hand as he opened the taxi door

Paige wanted to say she was sorry but he'd probably been hearing that his whole life. Not that she wouldn't mean it but that was probably the last thing he wanted to hear. She gently put her hand on his arm. "She'd want you to be happy. Maybe you should talk to your dad, tell him how you feel."

She had to smile a little. "Well have fun being grounded for the first time."

Jarid shrugged. "Maybe. I mean, it's not like it's really a problem. He has girlfriends. It's not a big deal. I'm glad he's dating. I'd rather that than have him mourning endlessly."

he chuckled, " I'll try." lifting her hand he kissed the back of it, " see you monday...beautiful" then he got into the cab and they were off

Paige nodded, "yeah. I understand." She wanted to tell him about her family but they had never really shared an personal information and her family wasn't exactly a quick topic to cover.

Brooklynn blushed and watched the cab drive away until it turned the corner. Then, she went back inside, still grinning widely.

"It's just my dad, you know? How he's always been." Jarid took a long drink of his water. "So anyway, you are reigning champ of Call of Duty."

Paige forced a smile, "until you beat me. Which will probably be the next time we play."

"We'll see," Jarid smiled. "Besides, I'll be the one with blue hair on monday."

Paige laughed, "and I can not wait to see it." She glanced at her watch. "Its getting late, I should propably go." She said, even though she didn't want to. Her father was away on a busness trip and going back to an empty appartment on Halloween did not sound like fun.

"Alright," he nodded, standing. "You still gonna help me dye it?" he asked, referring back to the hair.

Paige grabbed her jacket and stood up. "Yep, when would be a good time?"

"any time on sunday, probably," he shrugged.

Paige zipped her jacket. ” ok, then I'll see you on sunday.”

"Cool," he nodded. "See you then," he pulled on his own jacket. "I'll walk you out."

Paige picked up her purse. "Thanks," she said. She wanted to tell him how much she enjoyed spending time with him but she was worried about how he would react.

"It was fun tonight," Jarid rubbed the back of his neck as they walked out the door.

"Yeah," she agreed as they walked toward her motorcycle. "so uhm...I guess just call me on Sunday to let me know when to come over."

"Yeah, cool," he nodded. "See you then."

She impulsively leaned up and kissed his cheek. "Bye."

His eyes widened, but then he grinned, the smile nearly splitting his face. "Yeah," he cleared his throat. "Uhm, bye."

Paige waved bye as she got on her motorcycle and headed home, a smile on her face the whole time

Paige walked into school. She had dyed Jarid's hair blue the day before and couldn't wait to see how it turned out. She had to leave his house before it was dry so soon she'd get to see if all her hard work paid off. She walked to her locker and shoved her back pack into it.

Jarid wasn't embarrassed to walk into school with blue hair, in fact he thought it was hilarious. He tossed his bag into his locker, and seeing Paige, grinned.

Brooklynn, having not heard from Carl, assumed that he had been grounded. She was a little nervous about seeing him again, would he just be normal again? She hoped not, she'd liked what had happened this weekend.

Jaimie was running late. After she'd woken to Braden next to her on Saturday morning, she'd been thinking hard, evaluating what had happened. He wanted monogamy. Was that something she could give? She wanted to, but she wasn't good with commitment and it made her very anxious to think about.

Paige grinned and walked over to him. "It looks great." she reached up and ruffled his hair. "It really does look awesome."

"Yeah, it does," he agreed, bending his head down so she could run her hands through it. "Too bad it'll only last a few days."

Carl had had the worst weekend of his life. his father was furious and had yelled at him more than once. he was able to get new glasses thank God before today but they didn't really cover up the bruise that went up the side of his nose and around his eye. he wondered how Brooklyn would act today.

Braden had loved spending the night with jaime. he had loved being close to her in no demanding way. he hoped she would decide soon


Peter had a decent bruise along his jaw but he was sure it was nothing near what the other guy had. his punch had been week but had taken Peter by surprise but peter knew his had been had landed much more seriously.

"Oh my god!" Brooklynn said, when she saw Carl. Her face was twisted in concern. "Does it hurt? Are you okay? It looks like it hurts!"

Jaimie walked quickly into school, hating that she had to rush. And she still didn't know what to tell Braden.

"I can always dye it again," Paige said. "Maybe brighter blue next time."

peter chuckled stopping by his locker within earshot of Jarid and Paige, " only temporary...just like her." he said loud enough for them to hear

Carl smiled at her concern, "it hurts a bit but it looks worse than it is... really."

Jarid turned to see Peter. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Okay," she said, biting her lip. "And you got new glasses. They look nice."

"Jarid, don't," Paige said. "Just ignore him."

peter shrugged with a tiny gleam in his eye, " just that she doesn't last all that long. great while it lasts but then it just...stops. at least it did with me. maybe you will have better luck." he so wanted jarid to ask another question.
