"I didn't mean to make you feel that way," Sam said. "Its not your fault. If its's anyone fault, its mine. Kissing you was...stupid."

"thats not..." He looked down at his feet, "in all for being honest."

"But you can't even look at me now," she said sadly. "I shouldn't have done something so drastic."

He forced himself to look right at her,"we will ge through this."

She forced herself to smile, but she didn't believe it. How could they get through it? "How?"

He shrugged," nor sure but we will."

She nodded sadly. She would have been better off just wondering how he felt. "thanks for coming so we could talk."

"If you lose," he paused to take another bite. "You'll make me dinner again and we go paint balling."

Sasha bounced all the way to the cab and then in the car as it drove to the zoo.

As Brooklynn got out of the car at the park, she was struck with an idea. A police officer strode by and her eyes widened. Of course. She could call the police. Tell them she'd heard someone talking about it. That had to help.

"Deal," Paige said. "I've never been paint balling."

"I don't do it often. But it's fun," he assured her.

"It seems like fun," she agreed as she took another bite of pizza.

"It really is," he assured her. Soon the pizza was gone. "So dessert?" he asked with a grin.

"Yes," she grinned. "What do you want? Cheesecake? They also have ice cream and a lot of other things. I think its on the menu."

"I think I'll go for the cheesecake. Gotta keep trying it, find the best one in the city."

Paige nodded, "let me know when you find the best one." The waitress came back and they ordered their desserts. A few minutes later the slices of cheesecake were delivered.

"Oh, I will," he assured her with a laugh.
"This is pretty good," he said as they ate. "Very good."

Paige grinned, ” I'm glad you like it.”

He nodded. "So where should we go now?" He asked once they'd finished eating.

Braden held her hand the whole time. She had said it...she really had. he smiled at Sasha. he was glad she was still able to be a kid

Carl took her hand as they started to walk around the park, "what's on your mind?" he asked

Paige shrugged, "the park."


Sam nodded, not sure what to say next. "Are you hungry? I could make dinner"

The zoo wasn't too crowded, as it was a Sunday in the fall, getting near the cold weather. "At least this will always make her happy," Jaimie remarked as Sasha raced ahead of them.

"Oh, nothing," Brooklynn smiled, waving a hand. "Just thinking."

Jarid paid for the lunch and they left. "The park sounds good, since its not too cold."

Paige nodded, "yeah." She reached over and took his hand.

Jeff shrugged, "I'd better get going...see you around." and with that he stepped out of the appartment. things would never be the same and he realized that

Carl nudged her with his shoulder, "Oh come on what about."

Braden nodded, "she deserves to have one thing at least."

Sam sank to the floor and covered her face with her hands. She wished she could take it back, she wished she had never kissed him. Pretending she had no feelings would have been better than this.

Jeff took a deep breath and headed for his place. he could use a walk after that. She like him. She had been feeling like that towards him for a while it seemed. this wasn't right no matter how much he might want it. she didn't know and even more than that what if david woke up?

Sam slowly picked herself up off the floor. The only thing left for her to do now was stop Nikki. She couldn't let all those children be killed and there was no garentee Jeff would be safe.

he was out probably with teo no good sluts that he would drag home and grunt and groan till 3 am while she and his legal wife were trying to get some sleep. Oh what a life...it would all change so soon. she took a deep breath and watched the list print out onto a crisp clean sheet of paper. this was it. it was the right thing to do

Sam looked through the phone book untill she found the right number. She dialed and waited. This was the right thing to do. If she could find someway to help Nikki the shooting would never happen, she just hoped Nikki would answer the phone.

Nikki heard the house phone but didn't bother. she had too many things to get ready.
"Hello?" she heard her mother pick up the phone. her voice was sluggish, she had a hang over and was probably already drinking again but at least she was trying to some degree

Sam remembered that voice. "Hi, is Nikki there?" This was her fault, hers and David's. If only she could go back and change what happened that night.

"Uhm...I think so." she said her voice slow and a bit groggy, "my I ask who's calling?"

"Oh, sorry," she said giggling slightly, trying to sound like a high schooler. "This is Sam, I know Nikki from school."

"oh..." She sounded a tad confused but a moment later there was another voice on the phone,"hello?" She was hesitant. No one from school really knew her abs that's how she had wanted it

"Hey Nikki, this is Sam. I'm in art with you," Sam said. "Remember that big project Mr. Yolander mentioned on Friday? I was wondering if you'd want to be my partner for it?" She felt bad lying but she needed to talk face to face with Nikki.

"No I'm good." she wouldn't be in class on friday so there was no point to make appointments she wouldn't keep, "I've already got my project lined out so yeah."

"Oh, ok." Sam said. She had to think of something else quick. "Well would you want to grab a coffee before school tomorrow? Maybe I could bounce my ideas for the project off you?"

"I don't think so. I have a few things I have to get done tomorrow. can't skip class. have a good day." and before the girl could say anything else she hung up. that had been a bit strange

Sam flung her phone across the room. She only had one option left and she really didn't like it. It could get them both killed.
