he loved to hear that, "what was that epiphany that you had that changed everything?" he asked his smile still in place

"don't worry about it," she smiled. "It just made me realize what you mean to me."

he wanted more of an explanation but he let it lie, "I'm glad because you mean everything to me Jaime."

She smiled. "Can I wear the ring?" she asked, a little pleadingly.

The dinner went on without hardly anything more being said. Braden was ecstatic. His parents were going to freak

He didn't mean it that way, Sam told herself. He ment it in a platonic way. Her eyes flicked down to his lips then back up. "See, I'm lucky," she said softly.

Jeff grinned closing his eyes again, "If you insist."

Jaimie smiled and nodded, "right." She pulled the ring out of her pocket and then out of the box, slipping it onto her finger. It looked beautiful. She leaned in and kissed him, hard.

his arms bound around her and he returned the kiss. this couldn't be happening...it was too good to be true

She was so happy. Scared, yes, also that. Also worried and anxious, but she was happy. She had Braden again and he was happy and she just had to figure out how to keep him from going to school on Monday.

Sam walked into the kitchen, still in her pajamas. She had let Jeff spend the night on the couch because he was to drunk to leave by himself. She pulled eggs and bacon out of the fridge. She hadn't gotten much sleep, she couldn't stop thinking about everything that had happened between them. He loved her, but now it was gone. There time together was just gone. She sniffled back tears as she started breakfast.


Paige had spent most of the night staring at her phone. She had to stop the shooting, some how. And she had to stop Jarid from going to school on Monday. She thought about emailing all the seniors and telling them that Monday was senior skip day but she didn't know if that would work. She picked her phone up and texted Jarid. wanna hang out today

Jarid rolled over, feeling his phone buzz. He grinned, seeing it was Paige. yeah sure. Want to come over?

sure, how soon? Paige jumped out of her bed and started to change. She knew he liked her, knowing that made her feel really good. But he didn't know how she felt, not anymore. Myabe she should just tell him, why wait.

whenever. I'm still in bed, so it all works for me he answered before stretching out in the bed and yawning. Ugh Sunday. He didnt want to go to school tomorrow, but he had to, big project due in his history class. At least that was done though, he could spend the day hanging with Paige and playing video games.

I'll be there soon she replied. Paige grabbed her purse and headed outside. She would do what ever she had to to make sure he didn't go to school on Monday. She was still thinking of ways to keep him from school when she got to his house. She knocked on the door.

Jarid opened the door. "Hey," he smiled. "How are you feeling?" he had heard she was sick the day before.

"A lot better," she said. "I guess I just needed some fresh air." Paige smiled. She needed to figure out a way to tell him how she felt. Maybe she could do what he did, bet she'd win and get a kiss. That could work

"That's good," Jarid smiled. "You want to come in?" he stepped aside to let her in. "What did you want to do?"

Paige stepped inside. "Video games?" She suggested. "Maybe a different bet this time?"

"That smells good." jeff said still half asleep rubbing his neck

Sam looked over at him. "Hey, how's your head?" She pulled two plates out.

"What did you have in mind?" Jarid nodded as they walked back to the game room.

Jaimie sat up, waking to Sasha's knocking on the door. She slipped out of Braden's arms and opened the door. Sasha was frantic. "Mama is going to be here in an hour!"
Jaimie bit her lip. She'd forgotten about her mother. "Get dressed and have breakfast. I'll get dressed and finish cleaning. Don't worry, just get yourself ready."
Sasha nodded and disappeared.

Brooklynn was pacing. How could she get Carl to stay home? He couldn't go to school the next day. She couldn't let him. But.. how could she keep him from doing that?

Braden didn't stir. he was sound asleep and witht he lack of talking he wasn't roused by voices
Jeff shrugged, " as could be expected I suppose." he sat down at the table, "it hurts."

Jaimie was glad he didn't wake up and after she was dressed, she went out, closing the door behind her. At least he could get some sleep.

Paige bit her lip. "A kiss?" She said looking up at him.


"There's tylonal on the table," she said. "Do you want orange juice?"

"Oh," Jarid was startled. "That's..." he was speechless, a little. He hadn't expected that from her. "Yeah, sure, okay."

"That would be amazing." he reached out and grabbed the Tylenol, "Sam thanks."

"We don't have to, if your not comfortable with it," she said quickly. It was a stupid idea.


"Sure," sam filled a glass with juice and set it on the table. "Foods almost ready." She stared at him for a few seconds. She wanted to tell him how she felt but he didn't feel the same, not yet

"No I mean... I was just surprised. I thought... I didn't think you'd... be interested." Jarid stammered.

Paige couldn't stop the smile from spreading across her face. "I am."

"Oh," he smiled. "Well uhm, you don't need to bet for that," he ran a hand through his hair. "You could just... do it, you know?"

Her eyes widened slighty, that she had not been expecting. She stepped closer and gently pressed her lips to his.

He smiled against her lips, his hands going to her face, gently cupping her cheeks.

She stepped closer, deepening the kiss

One of his hands shifted down to the small of her back, pulling her close, right up against him.

Her arms moved around him, her fingers playing with the edg of his shirt

He pulled away slightly. "I thought you just wanted to be friends."
