Sam looked through his movies for a minute before putting the Hangover in. It wasn't her favorite movie but she didn't want to put an action movie in.

Jarid shrugged. "I don't know. I like just hanging out with Zeus. No fuss, no mess for me to clean up." He replied happily.

Jeff brought on two mugs one with tea the other with hot coco with marshmallows bobbing around in it

Paige laughed, "one day I'll convince you to get a cat."

"Is this okay?" Sam asked as the movie started.

Jarid smiled. "Yeah okay," he grinned.

Paige gave him a quick kiss then looked back at the tv.

"its great." He said settling in next to her on the couch

"Thanks for the tea," Sam said after she took a sip.

"of course." He smiled

Sam smiled and looked back at the movie. Maybe she'd actually sleep tonight. If it worked...maybe she should move back in. Everything seemed better when she was here.

By time the movie was over Paige had almost fallen asleep a few times. "Can you stay?" she mumbled to Jarid as she tried to stay awake.

"I'm doing well, how are you?" she asked, hugging the woman back. "Sorry I haven't been around, I want to give everyone their space."

"Of course," he smiled. "Want me to get a blanket or something?" he asked, kissing the top of her head.

"We are..figuring things out." she looked over Brooklyn's shoulder at the back of Carls head, "I'm thankful for your understanding."

"Of course," she nodded. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

she shook her head, "not more than you are doing." she said with a sad smile

Brooklynn nodded."Let me know if there is anything, please," she told the woman.

"I will. But do you two want anything? got some cookies coming hot out of the oven."

"If you don't mind, I think that would be great," Brooklynn replied.

she smiled, "I'll bering that right up." she said then left.
"Why did you encourage her?" he asked from where he sat on the couch

"No, I'm okay," paige said. She moved slightly closer. "Aere you comfortable? We could go back to my room."

"Because she's your mom and I like her and I don't like it when she looks sad," Brooklynn replied.

"I'm okay," he replied, leaning his head against hers.

Paige smiled and closed her eyes, "thanks for staying."

"My pleasure," he answered with a soft laugh.

"Do you need to let your dad know you're staying?" Paige asked a few minutes later

"Is that a crime? Carl, she doesn't know how to help, but she's trying." Brooklynn chided.

"Will he be okay with you staying?" Paige asked. "I don't want you to get in trouble."

"I just feel like..." he sighed, "I'll put on so much weight if she keeps this up." he tried at a joke

"He'll be fine. Don't worry," he promised.

Brooklynn was startled into a laugh. "Well you don't have to eat all of them," she replied, sitting back on the couch with him.

Paige smiled, "okay." She pulled out her phone and texted her dad, letting him know Jarid was spending the night. "Should we watch another movie?"

Carl chuckled but it quickly dissipated, "so about what I said earlier...about....us...sleeping..." he sighed. how was he supposed to get around to this
