Paige followed the nurse back to the room. "Jarid," she ran in and hugged him tightly. "You're ok."

"Told you I would be," he grinned.
"He'll need to stay until the police can talk to him," the nurse told Paige.

"Ok, I'll stay with him" Paige said to the nurse. She looked back at Jarid. "I was so worried."

Jarid nodded. "Well I'm fine now." He sat up on the bed and patted the spot next to him.

Paige sat beside him. "Do you need anything? Are you hungry?"

"No, I'm okay. Just tired and traumatized," he said. "Oh, and I've got to call my dad."

"Do you want me to wait outside?" Paige asked.

"Uhm no, No, It's fine," he said. He dialed his dad's phone and waited while it rang.
"Jarid! Thank god, are you okay?"
"I'm in the hospital, but I'm fine."
"I'm on my way-"
"Dad, I'm fine. I'll-"
"No, I'm coming. Lord, that school was supposed to be safe!"
Jarid sighed and tucked the phone away once his dad had hung up.

The emt nodded at Jaime then to the one who had come back with a gerney.
"Can you walk?" He asked

"Are you sure you don't need anything?" Paige asked. She wished there was something, anything that shee could do.

"Yeah," Jaimie said softly, eyes back on Braden. How was she going to do this without him?

"I'm good, really," Jarid nodded. "Just stay."

"Okay," paige said. She'd stay as long as he wanted her to. She gently touched the bandage on his arm. "Does it hurt?"

He nodded, "ill take you to the ambulance." He Said as another medic helped the first heave bradens limp body onto the gurny, coveteing him with a white sheet

He shrugged. "They gave me some medication, so not at the moment."

Just watching them move his body made her start sobbing again. No, this had to be a dream. She just had to wake up. Just the day before yesterday he'd... he'd proposed and she had never told him that she loved him. Oh god.

Ooc: I'm almost sad I had him die

The medic let her sob as they wheeled Braden away.

A medic came in rushing over to Brooklyn kneeling down

Paige nodded. "I thought I lost you," she almost whispered. "When I was waiting for you to call so many things were running through my head and I was so scared i'd never see you again."


Sam stood as students started coming out of the school. Her heart sank when she saw the first gurny coved in white come out. Jeff had to be okay, he just had to.

"He said he can't feel his legs," Brooklynn said, turning to the medic.

Once she'd managed to calm down a little, Jaimie let the medic escort her out of the building.

He shifted his good arm around her. "I'm sorry. Didn't mean to scare you."

"I'm supossed to be comforting you," she said forcing a smile. Paige looked at him for a moment then hugged him.

He patted her on the back.
"Where is my son?" a loud voice demanded. Jarid sat up slightly.
"My dad's here."

Paige stood up. "I can wait outside," she offered.

"Just for a few minutes," he nodded. "Sorry..."

She smiled, "its fine." She brushed a few strands of hair off his forhead then left the room.

His dad was led into the room. "Jarid are you okay?' he asked, more frantic than Jarid had seen him since his mom died.
"I'm good dad," Jarid said, "Really. I'm fine now."
"Maybe this school was a bad idea," he said. "It's not safe."
"Dad, I'm not going anywhere. The school... it's... well, uhm, it's good dad."
His dad shook his head. "We'll talk about this later, when you're at home."

Calling over others Carl was pulled onto a gerny. The medic turned her attention to Brooklyn, "thsres a lot of blood here. Any of it yours?"

Jeff carried an unconscious girl out of the bulding and was rushed with a swarm of medics

Paige sat in the small waiting area near Jarid's room. Know that she knew he was okay she wondered how many people were hurt.


Sam got as close as she could when she saw Jeff. He looked okay.

"My shoulder," Brooklynn replied, but she didn't care. "Is he going to be okay?"

"Come on, let's get you home," his dad insisted.
"They said the police need to talk to me."
"If they do, they can come to the house."
"Dad-"
But he was out of the room and off to demand that Jarid be allowed to leave.

Paige stepped back into the room. She had never met his father but now she knew what he looked like. "Everything ok?" She asked jarid.

"Yeah. He wants me to go home, so we'll see what the doctor says," he replied.

Paige sat beside him. "After the police talk to you?"

Jeff handed the unconscious girl to the paramedics and in that moment saw Sam. He covered the ground between them in a few strides and pulled her into a tight embrace.

The two had Carl on the gurny and literally ran him out of the bulding. The moment they were out one of the ambulances turned on its lights and sirens.
"we are taking care of him." The medic said with a little smile as she pressed a bandage to Brooklyn's shoulder , "are you ok to walk ?" She asked

"No, he's demanding now," Jarid rolled his eyes. "He's.... It's how he was after my mom died too."

"Yeah, I think so," Brooklynn nodded. She stood, and though she felt a little dizzy, allowed the medic to escort her out.

Once they were out others rushed over helping Brooklyn to an ambulance as the first medic went back in.
All the wounded were taken to a hospital to get checked out and bandaged up more properly. While parents were called to identify the dead

"No I'm fine! You have to let me see him! Please!" Jaimie pushed away from the nurse who was speaking to her. "Please I have to see him before... Please!"
"You need to sit," the nurse coaxed, "once we get you checked out we can see what we can do."
"No please!"

Once she was bandaged up, Brooklynn asked to see Carl. She was told no, and that her parents were on their way.

Bradans parents came to the morgue to identify the body of their son. His mother clung to his father as she wept for him and his young life snuffed out

Carl was taken directly into surgery. That lasted a good 4 hours.

"Miss you need to calm down." The nurse said to Jaime het hysterics getting out of control, "e need to sedate her." She said to another nurse.

Nikki as taken to an interrogation room down town. She didn't protest against any treatment of her as they drug jet intro the building. She knew what her fare wase but it was her price to pay and she had fine so knowingly. She was handcuffed to the table in front of her as she waited to be questioned.

"You'll all he has left," paige said. "He just wants to keep you" safe."

"You're okay," sam mumbled. She pulled away just enough to see his face. "You're okay."

Jaimie pulled out the IV they'd put in her arm and stood. "I'm not in shock, I don't need fluids," she motioned to the IV bag, "I just need to see Braden." She tried to push her way out of the room.

Brooklynn's parents arrived, crying and hugging her until she pushed them away, reminding them that she was fine.

The police chief walked into the room carrying a file and the papers they'd found in her backpack. "What do you have to say for yourself?" He asked, voice gruff and his face hard.

Jarid nodded as his dad came back in. "Come on jare, we're going home."
He looked at Paige. "Can you come?"
Jarod's dad looked at her for a moment. "You're Paige?"

"Yes sir," paige said. She suddenly felt like she had to make a good impression. She wanted to go with Jarid but she'd have to ask her father

The man nodded and looked her up and down briefly. "Well it was nice meeting you but-"
"Dad I want her to come with," Jarid said.
"I'm sure her own parents are worried sick," his dad replied.
"She wasn't at school, her dad knows she's safe," he glanced at Paige for confirmation.
Jarids dad looked at Paige for another moment, then back to his son. "If Paige can come, then she may join us."
"Thanks dad."

"I'll have to call my dad quick but it should be fine." She stepped into the hall and pulled out her phone and called her father.
"Hi dad," she said when he answered.
"Paige, are you home yet?" He asked, he sounded annoyed.
"Uhm, no. I'm at the hospital. Jarid was hurt and he wanted to see me." She said.
"Is he alright?" Her father asked.
"Yeah. He wants me go home with him, its okay with his dad. Can I go?" Paige asked.
"Yes." He was silent for a few minutes. "Your mother is flying in. She saw what happened on the news. I'm picking her up in a few hours. You don't have to see her."
Paige was stunned. "Can I think about it?"
"Of course, I'll call you later and pick you up." He said. "I love you, paige. So does your mother."
"Bye dad, love you." Paige hung up and walked back into jarids room. "I can come."

"Great," Jarid smiled. His dad helped him off the bed and they walked out of the hospital, to the car that was waiting.
"How is your arm?"
"IT's fine, dad. I can hardly feel it."
His dad watched him, but jarid turned to Paige.
