Loren shrugged," I'm fine...really." He couldn't keep his teeth from chattering

keller smiled cutting the roasted chicken breast in half, " how long were you out there?"

Brit shook her head. "Where's the kitchen?" She asked as she pulled her shoes off. "I can start some hot tea."

"Until about a week ago," she replied. "Once the Union started... exerting control in Boston, I stopped going to work and... and dropped out of civilization, I suppose."

" go...get in the tub. I'll...I'll make tea." He wasn't going to risk her getting sick because of this stunt.


"Oh," keller replied quietly with a slow nod.

She wasn't going to argue, she was to cold to try. "Try not to freze," she said as she shrugged his now wet jacket off.

"Were you on your own out there?" she asked, picking at some of the food on the tray.

he nodded with a shaky smile, " you got it." he waited till she was in the bathroom then stripped out of hsi wet clothing. grabbing a few towels he soaked them through and tossed them in the microwave. setting the tea kettle on he began wrapping himself in towels and heating more as he went.

"yeah..." he said dryly. but he hadn't been. they had taken him in, fed him, and been his family and now he couldn't even admit that.

"It's hard when you're on your own," she nodded. "It's easy to forget why you ran in the first place."

It had been easy up to now but denying them out right to a friend, or at the least someone who could be a friend, was hard...so hard. he nodded looking down, "I get that."

"Once Xander and I met... Well, that's what keeps you human: the companionship. Having someone else with you." she had a faraway look in her eye, it was clear she was thinking back to her time outside of this building.

"He was pretty special to you." he noted

Brit soaked in the hot water until it started to cool off. It took a while but she was finally warming up. She wrapped up in a few towles and reflilled the tub with hot water. "You turn," she said as she stepped out of the bathroom.

"Sure. He was the first person I'd really talked to in a long time. And... and when you have to survive together, you learn to depend on the other person, you know?" Audrey shrugged.

He had slipped into some flannel pajama bottoms while she was in the tub, "thanks." he said from the kitchen, "but I think I managed to get the heat back into...." his words trailed off as he rounded the corner to where she was standing. He just stood there for a moment then forced himself to speak. "Uhm...I have a shirt and some pants with a draw string. your clothes are in the dryer but the cycle isn't finished."

Oh he knew...he knew all too well, "I guess that's how we are wired."

She smiled. "Yeah, I guess so."

The lull of the conversation made him uncomfortable, "so...uhm...what did you do before?"

"Thanks," she said, shifting from one foot to the other. "I'll let the water out of the tub then. Is the tea ready?"

He didn't reply. Simply nodded

"Uhm...where are the pants and shirt?" She asked. "Thanks for making tea."

Ooc: yeah, probably. I changed my post

Ooc: I keep calling him Liam...his name is KKeller...face palm!

"Right." He moved from where he was standing and walked into the bedroom. He scrounged a bit and finally located the pants and a baggy shirt. Handing them to her he forced his eyes to stay on the door or her face.

Ooc: I thought he just lied about his name haha

"Thanks," brit said then stepped back into the bathroom. She changed quickly and let the water out of the tub then stepped out.

"How do you like your tea?" He asked from the kitchen

He shrugged, " I did whatever jobs were available. Nothing fancy."

"Plain," brit said as she walked into the kitchen. "Thanks for the clothes," she said as she pushed up the sleeves on the shirt

He nodded handing her her cup, "you warm?"

"Getting there," she said. "My hands are still a little cold." She took a sip of her tea. "How are you?" She asked, finally noticing he wasn't wearing a shirt.

"I turned up the heat in here quite a bit so...I'm doing ok." he had always been surprised how quickly he could warm up. it had been a blessing more than once

he shook his head looking down, "no. they were...killed in an explosion." he closed his eyes letting out a long breath. it had been years since he had talked about that, it still hurt
