"Yeah I'll try to do that," he agreed. "Have fun in class," he said before heading to the gym.

Paige watched him for a minute before walking to art. She hoped the day would go quickly so she could get home and make dinner.

Jaimie nodded. "Yeah, class." At least it was easier now that the memorial week was over. "What did you mean with the "I know" thing? I mean... You're new here, how would you know tht?"

She shrugged, "i mean you told me about all the stiff about not trusting and what not." She tried waning it off.

"Oh," Jaimie hadn't realized she'd said that much about it. "Okay. Well I guess it's time for class. See you after, maybe?"

She had naught it...good,"sure." She said with a slight smile,"have fun."

"Yeah," Jaimie nodded. "I'll get right on that." There was a slightly sarcastic edge to her voice, but it wasn't meant in a mean way. "See you." She said before turning and heading towards her art class.

"see you." She took a deep bath and went to class

Class dragged on for Jaimie and all she wanted was to go home and sleep, hide from the world for a few years. She headed to her locker after classes were done for the day, hoping to get out quickly.

Brooklynn was out the door as soon as the bell rang. She would visit Carl. Today was going to be a good day, she was determined. Things would be okay today.

Jarid looked around for Paige. He was looking forward to tonight, he hoped it would go well.

Paige walked up behind Jarid and wrapped her arms around him. "Hi."

"Hey," he grinned. "You ready to go?"

"Why would I hide from you?" Jaimie shut her locker and turned to look at him.

He pressed a kiss to her lips before grabbing his backpack and leaving.

Paige hurried home and cleaned up quickły. She changed into an oversize tshirt and shorts and started dinner.

He showed up maybe an hour later with a bottle of wine. "Hey gorgeous," he smiled she she opened the door.

she grinned, "hey handsome." She took his hand and pulled him inside, she closed the door behind him.

"Oh good lord," Jaimie rolled her eyes. "Don't even start with that."

Brooklynn stepped into the doorway, feeling a little timid. "That didnt sound like it went well."

Peter chuckled, "Oh come on why dont we go back to your place and enjoy eachother?"

Carl grunted throwing the breaks on his wheelchair our of the locked mode and whipped it around to face her, "if you were being forced to do something that was pointless you might get a little snappy too."

Sam paced back and forth in her apartment, it had been over a week since she'd seen Jeff and she had invited him over to dinner. Her mom was getting married in just over two weeks so she had been in Florida helping with the last minute details. But now that she was back she couldn't wait to see Jeff. She glanced at the clock again, he should be there any minute.

"I can't, Peter," Jaimie leaned back against her locker. "I have a lot of stuff going on right now."

"He was trying to help, Carl," she replied softly. "That's all."

there was a knock at Sam's door

"Aw come on jamie...it will help get some stress off your back." he teased

"I know," he sighed, "I know but its....too much."

Jaimie rolled her eyes. "No, I don't think even you want to deal with this right now."

"I'm sure. There is a lot going on right now."

"Try me." peter grinned.

"Mom...talked to the doc and well he said something about there being a one in whatever chance that I might be able to walk but its..." he looked down, "its false hope."

Jaimie just shook her head. "I have to go Peter, I don't have time to do this with you."

"If there's a small chance, don't you want to go for it?"

"Oh don't be like that Jaime." he grunted

after a long moment he looked up at her, "would you buy a lottery ticket?"

"Don't be like what?" She asked, pushing away from the locker and heading out of the building.

"You can't win if you don't buy a ticket," was Brooklynn's slow reply.

"You know you enjpy me don't be so coy."

"but would you waste your time and money and hope on a ticket...a one int however many million chance?"

"It has nothing to do with that," Jaimie replied with a wave of her hand.

"Sometimes... sometimes all people have is hope. And that's better than despair."

Sam ran to the door and pulled it open

"Don't finish that sentence." Trish's voice cut him off from behind. Peter was obviously annoyed the expression on his face clearly spelling that out.
"And who the hell are you to tell me what I want and don't want." he hissed turning to face her
"I am Jaime's real friend and I don't like jack asses talking to my friends so vulgarly." she said without hesitation or apology.
"Her real friend? right," he guffawed, "real friends aren't made in a day."
"And you would know how?" she asked cocking her head tot he side. That was it. Peter had heard enough. his hand drew back and flew forward to slap her face. her left hand shot up deflecting the slab her left spearing out in front of her connecting with his chest plate. knocking his back he coughed against the blow.
"Just so you know I could do this all day and I'm not int he slightest afraid of you. so if you want to be beaten by a girl by all means go right ahead." she said bluntly. His eyes went hard and his face turned into a scowl. he spat at her feet and brushed past Jaime as he stormed off.

"You still haven't answered my question." Carl pointed out

Jeff smiled at Sam as she opened the door. in his hands he held a bouquet of flowers, " hey Beautiful."
