Saddle Up the RPG

Lucy looked over to see Summer not working and rolled her eyes. She handed the reins of her horse to Marshal and went to go find Harry. "Need help?" she offered once she'd found her younger brother.
Marshal took the horses to the stable.

Harry was practically throwing the bails, " what the hell is she here for?" he snapped not even turning to look at Lucy, "she does less work around here than Kate."

She rolled her eyes. "Hahaha Jeb" she said. "I'll get back to work don't worry. I just needed some kind of breakfast real quick" she said. She went over rinsed her mug before coming back to the door about to head back to the barn.

"She's here cause she's our sister," Lucy replied. "Family sticks together. No matter what. You know that," she said as she stepped around him to help move the bales of hay.

"Yeah well she didn't really exercise that philosophy when she took off now did she?"


Jeb stopped walking, " Summer, you slept through breakfast again?"

Crap she thought. She was in trouble. She turned to face her older brother, "Yeah, I slept through breakfast again. It was only by like half an hour though, so it wasn't as bad as before..." she said, getting ready for what was coming.

"And we welcome her back. She's our sister, Harry. We love her no matter what, just like we love Kate, even though she can't help as much cause she has school. Or like we love you through the stunts. We have to just keep trying to get her to understand."

"At least my stunts don't make me a whiny baby," he said resentfully. out of all the sibling Summer's return had been the hardest for Harry to accept


Jeb sighed, " Summer, you know the rules if you miss breakfast that's it till lunch. they were like that before you left and they haven't changed. no taking coco breaks when there is plenty of work to be done." he loved his sister so much but sometimes she even got under his skin, " we need everyone to work their fair share of the Ranch."

"Harry. She's our sister. That's not going to change. Was she really that bad while we were gone?"

She simpley nodded. "Sorry" she said and walked around him, and headed towards the chicken coop to get the eggs. She'd rather not go back to the hay becasue Lucya nd Harry were talking about her anyway.

Jeb sighed. this transition was going to be harder than he had hoped

"Yes she was that bad." he said looking at his sister for the first time, " she missed breakfast nearly every day then whined about how hungry she was and how she couldn't work on an empty stomach. then talked about how in New york or wherever it was she worked a full time job and didn't have to get up before nine and so on. Yes. it was that bad."

"I'm sorry, Harry. Maybe next time you can go with and I'll stay back. But we just have to keep going. It will end sooner or later. There was a reason she came back, she just has to remember that."

Summer had to pass the barn on the way to the coop. She heard Harry. "Thanks for sharing bro" she said to him before she went inside the coop and got the eggs slowly.

he whipped around at Summers passing voice, " AH! now why did she have to...." he felt himself fuming. if she were a guy he would have taken her down just then
jeb stepped into the barn, " something wrong?" he asked his question directed towards Lucy

"Just Summer... acting like Summer," Lucy replied with a shake of her head.

Summer got the eggs one at a time and carried them in her basket. She didn't look at Harry as she took them where they needed to go. He didn't have to be so hard on her all the time. Afterwhich she headed to the milking room.

Jeb nodded, " Harry cut her some slack ok."
" Why? so I can pamper her city slicked butt?"
" Watch it." Jeb's voice got a little stronger as she stepped forward, " she is still your sister and has gone through a bit so just lay off."

Lucy nodded to Harry. At least Jeb agreed with her.
Marshal followed Summer into the milking room. "Hey. How was it without us?"

"H + E + double hockey sticks" she told him. She rubbed the back of her neck and grabbed a stool. Harry pressured her alot and she did not like it one bit.

"How come?" he asked as he began on the other side of the room.

Harry rolled his eyes and went back to wrok. Jeb got his leather work gloves on and pitched in

OCC: What does Kate being at 'school' mean that happens with her??

ooc: she can come home, she's just the youngest and you weren't on, so we just had her at school. like, high school...

ic: "How was Kate?" Lucy asked after a few minutes of silent working.

it was just an easy way to explain her absence. I could play a school mate of hers if you like for now


"Kate was kate." harry smiled, " th only good thing about this whole bit."

Lucy smiled and nodded. "At least there is that."

"Yeah," he nodded, " at least there was that."

OCC: Ok then

IC: Kate arrived home. She missed being at home when she was at school and was always glad to be back.

Lucy nodded. Kate was a good girl and she helped as much as she could, though it would be easier once she was out of high school.

it was already around two when Kate got home. they were finishing up some of the harder work but there was plenty to still be done

Kate dumped her bag by the door and changed her shoes before going out to find the others.

Jeb smiled at Kate over the horse he was brushing

Kate smiled back and came over to him, patting the horse as she asked, "Hey, where can I help?"

"The rest of the horses still need to be brushed."

"Sure thing," she said, grabbing a brush and moving further down the stables to start with the job Jed had said.

the chorse were done for now. the evening round wouldn't be till about seven pm so they had a few hours. Jeb went inside glad to sit on the couch

Kate finished up and walked to join Jed in the living room, throwing her hair up off her face with a hair band.

"Do how was school?" he asked as she sat down

"School was... school," she replied with a shrug and a smile, "rather have been here but it's necesarry, how was today?"

Marshal joined them then, collapsing on the couch next to Kate. "Hey lil' sis."

" the cattle drive went well." he said his eyes closing for a minute. he was bushed, " anyone give you any trouble today?" after Summer's return there had been a lot of gossip that the tiny town had managed to circulate and all of them had been in on the fall out of that especially Kate. the town was a might conservative and that didn't help Summers cause...or any of their causes much
