nyc prep continued

Sam grinned, she gulped down her drink. "I'm not sure where I want it, I was thinking either my hip or side. What do you think?" She asked as she picked up another wing.

Braden shrugged, "Just about everything that has happened in the last few months and then...tonight."

Carl grinned a school boy grin, "I...I definitely would...though you will have to educate me on exactly what that means."

"it depends," Jeff said downing a shot, " how easy do you want it to cover up."

Jaimie nodded. "Are you...upset that I need to think about it?"

Brooklynn smiled. "It's pretty easy. Just keep being your amazing self and.." She paused before leaning in and kissing him. "You can only do that with me." She grinned mischievously.

"No...not at all...why would you ask that?"

Carl's eyes closed from the kiss, " there isn't anyone else I would want to do that with."

"I just wanted to make sure," Jaimie replied.

"You are already so good at this," Brooklynn smiled.
"Dinner's ready you two!" Sybil's voice could be heard from downstairs. "And don't you dare come down here covered in clay, Brooklynn Anne!"
Brooklynn groaned and put her head on his shoulder.

"I knew...I was very sure you weren't going to give me an answer...I'm just glad you didn't shut me down with an absolute no."

Carl chuckled, "you do that a lot?" he asked referring to the covered in clay comment

She nodded. "I like you too much for an absolute no," she smiled. Jaimie pressed a soft kiss to his lips.

"Not a lot, but it has happened a few times." She sighed and stood. "Come on, time for dinner."

Carl followed her down the stairs. so that was it...he was a boyfriend....he liked the sound of that

Brooklynn led him to the dining room, where her father was setting out plates and silverware. Her mother entered carrying a large plate of chicken and potatoes. "Sit you two. What would you like to drink?" Sybil asked Carl.

"It needs to be covered for the wedding." Sam said. She downed another shot. "Maybe here," she said pointing to a spot on her side, right under where her bra strap would be.

"that would be easy to cover up no matter what." he said with a nod

"Water is just fine thank you." Carl said with a smile

Sybil nodded and returned a minute or two later with water for all four of them. Her father brought in other dishes of food and the four sat and began eating. "So Carl have you always lived in New York?" Her father asked.

Sam nodded and finished her wings. She took another shot. "Now what?" She asked. "Do you have to get back to work?"

"Yes sir. I was born and raised here in new york." he smiled, " this looks amazing."

"Thank you," her father grinned. "It was a family effort."
Sybil smiled. "Do you have any siblings, Carl?"

"Yes I am." he nodded, "my mother couldn't have children after me."

Jeff nodded, " I probably should but with those shots not sure I should be handling a needle."

"How sad," Sybil replied. "Brooklynn is an only child too. But that was because she was such a fussy baby, it convinced us we could handle another one like her."
Brooklynn became very interested in her food, embarrassed by her mother.

carl smiled, "well I am sure if you had had another child Brooklyn would have been an amazing sister."

"I think so," her father beamed.
"Let's change the subject." Brooklynn decided.
Her parents laughed and obliged. "Do you travel much, Carl?"

"Yeah," sam agreed. "Do you want to come back to my place? Maybe sober up a little before you start work."

Jeff nodded "that would probably be a good idea"

"I do but mostly for academic reasons." he explained

"Where have you been?" Her father asked with interest shining in his eyes.

The waiter came back and Sam paid. "Let's go," she stood up slowly then grabbed her dress bag.

"Princeton, Harvard, Oxford, Rome and Cambridge," he replied, " nothing special."

he followed her out

"Did you enjoy it?" He asked. "Rome is quite fascinating, isn't it?"
Brooklynn smiled. It was very easy to get her father talking, he could really relate anything to ancient history.

Sam hailed a cab and in a few minutes they arrived at her appartment. She unlocked the door and walked in. "Oh! I got your tie." She unzipped the dress bag and pulled the tie out. "It matches my dress."

"It was a very enjoyable trip and Rom is quite fascinating I have to admit. I'd like to visit again someday."


'Oh boy," he said looking at it, "Its very pink."

He nodded. "Yes it is quite a city. We took Brooklynn there when she was much younger. She seems to prefer Paris though," he added with a grin to his daughter.
"Do you speak any other languages?" Sybil asked.

"Yep, but at least you don't have to wear all pink." She pressed the tie to his chest. "It'll look good though."

he grinned, "oui je fais. Je ne suis pas couramment, mais je parle français." he replied

Jeff chuckled, " glad you think so."

"Do you want anything to drink?" Sam asked. "I have to hang my dress up but make yourself comfortable."

"Plus impressionnant!" Brooklynn smiled. "I didn't know you spoke French!"

"Water," Jeff said heading for the kitchen

"I speak three languages but not as fluently as I would like. My mother thought it would be a good thing especially if I studied abroad."

"You are a very impressive young man!" Her father proclaimed. "Very impressive!"
"Where would you like to study abroad?" Sybil asked.

Sam headed to her room. "Can you get me a glass to?" she called as she walked into her room. She hung her dress up and kicked off her shoes. She'd had way to many shots.

"Thank you but having an eidetic memory isn't really something I had a hand in." he wasn't all that impressive,"My father would like to see me at Oxford though if I go into medicine I am thinking Harvard or Yale."

opening the cupboard he misjudged the distance and knocked a glass to the ground. it shattered on contact ."Sam...I think I'm more drunk than I thought."

"All fantastic schools," Sybil smiled.
"Can we stop with the third degree so we can all eat?" Brooklynn asked and her parents laughed, realizing that they had kept him talking quite a bit.
"Yes, yes of course."

Carl took a silent breath glad to be free from sounding like an aristocratic brat.

Sam closed her eyes before she put her shoes back on and walked towards the kitchen. "I'll clean it up," she said as she turned to grabbed the broom. She stumbled and grabbed onto the counter. "I think we should sit down."
