nyc prep continued

carl leaned over and opened the door for her and smiled, " hey there."

Jarid nodded in understanding. He wanted to say something like he thought she looked good without makeup too but he didn't.

"Hi," she grinned, sliding into the car.

Jaimie watched as people started arriving. She smiled. This was going to be a good party. And she refused to think about Braden or let their fight bug her.

"My mom does make up for movies," she said as she packed up her make up. "She showed me how to do it." She zipped her purse and picked up her mask. "Should we head to the party?"

Braden took a deep breath as they headed for the party, "have you ever been to this ting before?"

"Yeah, now that I'm re-zombie-fied and you're," he waved his hand at her refreshed makeup, "you know.... cat womaned...?"

"There was never a party this big in Jersey," Brooklynn shrugged. "And I was never much of a partier."

Paige smiled as she pulled the pony tail out of her short hair. She ran her fingers through her hair a few times, making it fluffy. "Let's go," she said pulling her jacket on

Braden nodded. He hoped she didn't expect him to know the ropes. He mindlessly pushed his glasses back on the bridge of his nose not knowing exactly what else to say. There was a moment for an awkward pause then he spoke," uh. I don't think I said this before." Actually he knew he hadn't, " but you know how you described that girl as a pinup bombshell?"

Jarid nodded, scooping up his own jacket. "We can just walk, it's like 2 blocks away," he offered. "Unless you're determined to arrive on your motorcycle."


She paused, trying to look as if she had to think about it. "Oh, yeah. Why?"

Carl looked at his hands before he spoke, " well I think that description fits you way better." he said with a little shrug. he wasn't used to paying women compliments on their looks...he had never really been compelled to before.

"Walking's good." She said. "It get really cold on motorcycles."

ic: She felt her cheeks heat up and brighten and she bit her lip. "Oh," she smiled. "Thank you."

"Ah, yeah," he nodded. "Sounds good." As they walked out of the building, he slipped on his jacket, there was definitely more of a chill in the air with the wind.

He glanced up seeing her blush. Taking a deep breath he reached over and took her hand. Was he overstepping?

She ducked her head, the grin growing wider. She gently squeezed his hand.

His smile grew a little bit more and he said nothing the rest of the ride to the party. The knot was back but right now he didn't mind so much. Carl got out od the car and opened the door for Brooklyn.

"Thank you," she smiled, sliding out of the car.

Jaimie paced the floor, watching as more and more people showed up. She couldn't help it, was Braden going to show up? Would he continue to be a jerk to her? If he didn't, what should she do?

He smiled,"you are welcome." He felt like this was a dream of some kind. He didn't want to wake up.

Braden sighed looking at himself. The costume he was wearing was simple but effective. It reminded him of Wesley from princess bride. His shirt was a loose cream colored cotton with ties in the front that went half way down his chest. It wasn't laced tightly at all letting s little of his chest show through. His pants were a brown color and his boots came up to his knees. Around his waist he had a belt holding down his shirt with a sword hanging from it. He wasn't sure how he felt about the loose sleaves but he had seen them in every swashbuckling film he had ever watched. The hat was what he really couldn't decide on. His mom assured him it worked but the two root feather wasbt really his style.

As they walked into the already crowded club, Brooklynn continued to hold onto his hand. Music was already playing loudly, there was food all over the place, and fake spiderwebs and other decorations all over the place.

Carl took in the sight, "now what?" He asked a little uncomfortable

Braden left his hat and took the car to the party...what was he doing?

"I don't know," Brooklynn confessed softly. She grinned. "Like I said, I haven't gone to many parties."

"So this is it," Paige said as they walked in. "Impressive."

"It's always like this. She puts a lot of work into it every year." Jarid agreed.

Paige looked around, unsure of what to do first. She was hungry but she also wanted to dance

"The food is always great," Jarid commented. "You wanna get some?"

Braden got out of the car feeling so silly. He took a deep breath and headed in

As soon as he walked in, Jaimie spotted him. She felt her muscles tense and she was torn. He looked good, but she was still hurt by what he had said.

He scanned as he walked in. There she was. He walked up to her, " nice part."

"Thank you," she nodded. "I thought you weren't coming."

He shrugged,"I didn't want to offend you."

Paige nodded, "yeah." She looked around again as she made her way to the food, everyone had awesome costumes.

"Offend me how?" she demanded.

"Nice costume, man," Jarid nodded to a guy dressed up as a pirate. "So are you crazy about Halloween like some of these people?"

"Used to be," Paige said as she picked up a plate. "My mom would always have a huge party and she'd make my costume." She looked at Jarid, "what about you?"

"I like parties, I guess," he shrugged. "Don't really care much about the reason."

Paige smiled, "yeah, parties are great. The bigger the better."

this wasn't off to a good start," by turning down your invitation." he sighed and suddenly wished he had pockets,"I know its your party and I don;t want to try and monopolize your time but...I'm just...uhm..."he was lost," Can I uhm have the first slow dance with you?"

"First you have to apologize," Jaimie said.

Jarid grinned, nodding. "Hey you want a drink? These parties are pretty famous for having some really good jungle juice," he nodded to the large punch bowl surrounded by other people.

"really?" He asked a little frustrated

"Sure, I mean, if its famous I have to try it right?" she said grinning. She was actually surprised how much she enjoyed spending time with him.

"You acted like a complete jerk," was the cool reply.

Jarid laughed. "Yeah, you will." He pushed through the crowd and poured 2 cups. "Here, try it."

He sighed. She was right but adnitting it was harder than he wanted it to be. He shifted his weight, "your right."

Carl took a deep breath, "food or dance?" He asked

Paige took a sip. "Wow, this is really good." She took another sip. "Do you wanna dance?"
