she waved the carrot greens, "I do alright for myself."

"By stealing other peoples food," he said as she picked up the second jug

she shrugged, " you have plenty."

"And that justifies it? This could be used to feed many other people, you dont know." He said

her face went mockingly serious, "right all those people that you haven't talked to in months."

He rolled his eyes, "I'm just saying you could have asked instead of stealing."

"when was the last tie you asked for anything instead of just taking what you needed?" she asked one eyebrow raised. he seemed like a bit of a hypocrite

"Why do you think I have this?" he asked gesturing to his garden. "I don't need to ask for anything."

"Right...sorry." she said abruptly, "I'll go and leave you to your little garden and your pre war politness."

He sighed, "you don't have to go. We all do what we have to to survive, I've just been lucky."

"Right...lucky..." she sighed

"You can take some food with you, if you want." He offered

She didn't like people taking pity on her, "dont need your pity hand outs. I do pretty good for myself."

Brit picked up the paper the machine spit out. "According to this there is a full days serving of protein and all the vitamins from fruits and vegetables that are recommended."


James shrugged, "your choice. But I don't mind sharing."

Scott began setting the cans aside, moving quickly through the pile.

"Congratulations," Nicholas smiled. "You did it!"

Brit smiled. "We did it. I guess we'll have to find something else to work on now."

"Put an amount of those in each bundle here," Greg explained motioning to the bundles he was putting together, " each person can carry their own food. Spread out the weight."

He didn't bother knocking this time, " britt I need to talk to you."

"That sounds serious," Brit said. "What's wrong?"

He glanced at Nicolas hesitantly before speaking," Xander is back."

"Back?" She asked confused. "Back to help or back to be forced to help?"

He let out a sigh and looks at his feet for a moment. He knew that spoke for itself.

"I see," Brit said. "Can...can I talk to him?"

"He isn't going to tell her anything," she said. "I don't think he ever liked her."

"Well you would know," he said with a nods," you worked with him long ebough," she must have felt so betrayed by him when he vanished

"Yeah," she nodded. "Is it ok if I go now?"

Brit pulled her jacket off, "thanks, for telling me." She said to Loren before walking out and heading to the cells.

Loren sighed watching her go.

Xander was pacing back and forth. He felt like he was going stir crazy

Brit pushed the large door open. "You're going to wear a hole in the floor," she said quietly as she walked towards his cell.

Xander stopped. He recognized that voice. He slowly turned around

She stopped a few feet from the cell. "You shouldn't have gotten caught."

"I would have tried to stop you and if that wouldn't have worked," she stepped to the gate. "Then I would have helped you," she whispered
