When he was out of sight, she took the tablets that he'd left and drank the water. She sat, knowing that things weren't going to be easy now.

The next day, Nicholas got to work early, carrying his cup of tea and coat over his shoulder.

"Now that Kellens gone, we need to move," River told Greg. "It's for the best."

Greg nodded, "i suppose you are right. But not till dark there are a lot of us and I doubt wasn't to run into anyone"

Loren hissed his coffee very black and very hot. His hang over wasnt treating him so well. He slipped into the chair at his desk

"Have you spoken to Xander?" Liam asked from the doorway.

"We can start everyone packing then. It should give us enough time," river agreed.

"no." Loren said abruptly without looking up

"That's would be good. Have them pack up only what they need. We will come back for what we can but we need to travel light."

"I'd like to speak with him, if I could," Liam asked. He asked out of courtesy, also because he had no place doing so. Except that he and Xander had been friends.

"Very smart," she nodded. "And that should make it easier to move quickly."

Loren rubbed his forehead, "if you think its wise...don't let her catch you."

"That was the thought." Greg nodded," I just hope Tevon and Athena are right about this place."

Liam nodded. "Of course not. Thank you," he nodded before disappearing down the hall towards where Xander was being kept.

"Athena wouldn't lie," river replied with a solid nod. "She's trustworthy."

Diana looked at the open file on her desk. Based on the cameras in Brit's lab, she had hit a snag with the formula. But now that its creator was back they should be able to finish it quickly. She'd give Xander a few more hours of peace, then she would speak with him.


Brit was currled up on the cot at the back of the lab, sound asleep. She had gone back to her appartment the night before but after trying to sleep for a few hours she came back down to keep working.


"Packing up?" Athena asked River and Greg as she walked in

Nicholas entered the lab and was surprised to see Britt asleep on the cot.

"Yes," River answered, turning to Athena. "We need to pack up, and at nightfall we'll be moving to the new head quarters."

Brit woke up at the sound of the door closing, she sat up and rubbed her eyes. "Hi."

Athena nodded, "I'll get everyone to start packing up."

"Good morning," Nicholas answered. "And happy birthday," he added, hanging up his coat.

"Pack light, only necessities," River added.

Brit smiled slightly and stood up. "Thanks." She grabbed her lab coat and pulled it on.


"Understood," Athena said. "We'll be ready by night fall."

"So what do you want to work on today?" He asked. "Your birthday, your choice."

"Good. Thank you Athena." River nodded.

Audrey sat on the table in the room, staring at the door. There was no way to predict what was going to happen next, but she knew it wouldn't be good.

"I think the supplements," Brit said. "I'd like to finish them."

Athena nodded. "I'll get to work." She said before leaving

"Great," he nodded and pulled the file. With that open on the table, he began pulling the chemicals they'd require.

She walked over to join him at the table. "Maybe we can finish this today."

"That would be great," Nicholas smiled. "This is a project that could help a lot of people."

Brit smiled. "Yeah, lets get to work."

Nicholas pulled on his gloves and they began to work.

"Lets take a little break," Brit said a while later.

"You got it, boss," he agreed. "Coffee? Or tea?" He offered.

"Tea please," she said as she sat on the edge of the cot and took her glasses off.

He poured her a cup and handed it to her. "You look tired," he observed as he got his own cup of tea.

Brit took a sip of her tea. "I haven't been sleeping well. Have a seat," she said. She moved over to give him room to sit beside her

He sat. "Anything you want to talk about?"

Brit was quiet for a few minutes, she focused on her tea. "Sometimes it feels like all of this is just a bad dream." she said softly

"Why do you say that?" He asked.

She looked over at him. "Are we doing the right thing? So many people have died, is it really worth it?"

"You know what the union believes," Nicholas said softly. He couldn't actually tell her it was for te greater good.

"What do you believe?" she asked. "There has to be another way, instead of torturing people."

"I don't know, dr. Tyler." He looked up at the cameras. He wasn't going to continue this conversation out here. Not where it would be so easy to listen in.

Brit followed his gaze up to the cameras. "We should get back to work." She stood up and finished her tea. "And please, call me Brit."

Nicholas nodded and stood, taking her empty tea cup. "Of course, dr Tyler," he said with a cheeky smile.

Brit rolled her eyes but she was smiling. She pulled a new pair of gloves on. "Do you think we should make the supplements flavored?"

"Perhaps. It could go either way," Nicholas replied. "If we make them flavored, then it's obvious that they aren't just water."

"True, but children might be more likely to take them if they're flavored." Brit reasoned.

"If they taste good, that is," he replied with a smile.

Xander was sitting in the corner his legs tucked up his arms folded over his knees his head resting on them

"That's what I was working on last night." She got a small bottel out of the fridge. "Its supossed to taste like strawberries." She handed it to him. "Can you taste it and tell me what you think?"

"You're not trying to poison me, are you?" he asked with a laugh.

Liam stepped into the room. "Xander," he said, his voice sounding truly apologetic.
