"Really Diana, if I don't know any better I would almost think you were jealous." He said with a quick raise of the eyebrow

She rolled her eyes. "Don't flatter yourself. I just don't think you should waste your time on someone who is...like Brit. But its your choice."

He grinned, "im just surprised you case so much."

Her eyes travelled up and down the young  man. The offer was a generous one but she didn't take hand outs. She took what age needed. That's how she had been trained and since her parents abandoned her why wouldn't she just take? He seemed nice enough but that was the problem nice people get you in trouble

She stepped closer to Loren. "If she goes down I don't want you going with her. It'd be a shame to lose someone as talented as you."


"Go ahead," James said. "Take a few things with you. You look like you could use the food."

The computer beeped. "You ready to see the results?" Nicholas asked.

"I guess, but you look first," Brit said as she took another sip of her tea.

"britt's not going anywhere any time soon. You said  so yourself. They need her as leverage for her ghost sister." He replied a little smugly

"Things can change," Diana replied. "Just dont get to close to her, I'd hate for you to get your heart broken."

He snorted out a laugh. As if she knew what even having a heart was.

"Alright," he nodded, stepping up to the computer. It took a few moments but he diciphered what the screen was saying. His stomach dropped but he forced a smile. "Looks like we've got a positive," he said.

She patted his chest, "better get ready for your date."

"Really?" She focused on the screen. "You're right. I didn't think it'd work."

"Yeah," he nodded. "Me either."

Ooc: sun are you setting it up?

He rolled his eyes, "dibt spoil her day Diana."

Brit looked down at her watch. "why don't we call it quits for today. Does ten work for drinks or is that to late?"


"I'll do my best," she smirked. "Have fun."

"Ten sounds good. Where are we meeting?" He asked. 

Ooc: yes I am

"Uhm...the place that's across the street on the right, I don't know the name." It was the place she'd been with Loren but she'd never really paid attention to the name

"I'll see you there at ten," he promised with a bright grin. He dispensed his lab coat and gloves and grabbed his things before disappearing out the door.

Brit shrugged her coat off and her gloves before grabbing her things and heading up to her apartment.

Ooc: did she and  Loren agree to dinner befor?

Loren turned and headed down the hall

ooc: Yeah, they decided to get dinner then drinks

Brit rummaged through her closet, tossing things onto her bed. She was quickly realizing that almost everything she had was work clothes. It didn't help that she couldn't stop thinking about her visit with Xander. She'd have to ask Loren if what he said was true. She glanced at the clock, she only had 30 minutes till she needed to meet Loren

He had picked out a dark grey suit for the evening. He looked it over then headed out. He was looking forward  to this evening

Brit pulled her heel on as she ran down the hall to the elevators. She hated being late. She smoothed her tight black pants and ran her fingers through her hair one more time. She wondered for the third time if her dark blue corset top was appropriate for dinner. Maybe she'd just keep her jacket on. She stepped out of the elevator and headed towards the doors.

Loren was waiting at the resturant. The clientele was limited so it was pretty much customizable to each person. Loren had the table they were sitting at in a corner and it was dressed up with crystal and fine wine

Brit walked into the restaurant. "Wow," she said when she reached the table. "This is...incredible."

He smiled as he stood, "glad you like it." He said stepping over and pulling her chair out for her

She smiled and sat. "You didn't have to do all this for me," she said as she took her jacket off.

"I wanted to." He said taking a seat again, "i took the liberty of ordering wine. Do you debunk at all?"

She shook her head, "wine sounds fantastic." She looked at him for a minute, "you look nice...not that you don't always," she said quickly, realizing who that sounded

"Thank you." He smiled filling her wine glass, "you look stunning yourself."

She smiled, "thanks. I'm not used to dressing up," she said, slightly embarrassed. "I think I figured out the formula for the serum, at least the computer says it'll work."

"Thats great." he said genuinely excited, "what caused the breakthrough?"

"Adding dopamine, it was Nicholas's idea, and it seems to have worked." Brit said, her eyes lighting up as she talked. "I'm not sure it'll actually work but it's definitely a step in the right direction."

of course it was his idea. Loren didn't like that she had a male assistant but he didn't let that show, " How soon till it can be tested?"

Brit shrugged, "I'm not sure. I want to run a few more tests first, so maybe in a few days. "

he nodded, "Well I don't want to rush you. I'm just excited of the prospect of it finally working."

"Me too," she took a sip of her wine. "Can you imagine all the good it'll do? Its just...so exciting."

he nodded, " all the lives it would save."

Brit grinned, "I feel like it could be a fresh start for so many. But enough of that, you probably get tired of listening to me talk about my work."

he shrugged taking a sip, " I don't mind."

She looked down for a minute then back at him. "Why did you tell me Xander was back?"
