That got a chuckle out of him. "Very well citizen Liem. I'll show you to some people who can help. They'll have a few questions, but you'll be fed and given some," he glanced at the man's attire, "proper clothing."

he nodded. food sounded amazing. even if it was the rice grool that he had been eating for the last few months

Liam led him further into the building, back to where the detainee cells were. A young man approached them, a questioning look on his face.
"This citizen appeared on our doorstep. Please see that he is housed and fed. And clothed."
"Of course," the man nodded. "Allow me to show you to a room where you might rest for the night."

"a room?" Liem asked. he wondered if they would lock him up in a cell waiting for the interrogation that was inevitable

"Thanks for coming," Brit said to Nicholas. "I'll see you tomorrow." She looked back at Loren, "yeah, I want to go swimming."

"Just for the night. We'll have someone come talk to you in the morning, set a new life up for you." He'd also be questioned, but that needn't worry the man.

Nicholas nodded and left, enjoying the walk home. He'd been surprised at the sheer level of hostility he'd felt from Loren, but he supposed it wasn't too surprising.

once Nicholas left he smiled, " yeah...swimming..."

"come and talk...talk to me?" he asked a little skeptical

"Yes," the man nodded. "Get to know you, so we might discover where you would best fit in our society." The man's voice was very calm and he gave Liem an encouraging smile. "If you'll follow me," he motioned down a hallway.

Liem nodded and stuck his hands in his dirty pockets following his leader.

Brit grinned, "where are we going?" She asked as she made her way back to the bar

"Wouldn't you like to know." he said with a smile. he took her hand and headed for the door

"This room is open. I'll have someone bring some food for you in a few minutes," the man motioned to an open door.

Audrey sat on her bed, surprised when she heard noise from the next room. She scooted closer to the wall, listening.

it was a simple room but not uncomfortable. there was a small table a chair and a bed...a full bed, not a cot. he couldn't imagine what real bed felt like. it had been so long, "this is nice" he said with a little nodd

"Food will come along shortly," the man assured him, closing the door behind him.

he wanted to lay down in the bed but his clothes were so dirty...he was so dirty. he sat down on the chair instead. the temperature in here was nice

Audrey took a gamble and knocked on the wall. She'd had little actual contact with a person in a few days and she was ready to go out of her mind.

Liem stopped and listened for a minute, " Hello?"

"Hello," Audrey replied, a little smile appearing. Thank goodness. Someone was there.

"Who...who is there?" he asked

Brit smiled and looped her other hand around his arm. "Can you give me a hint?"

he looked at her from the corner of his eye," you wanted to go swimming." he raised his eyebrow

She nodded, "but I don't know of any swimming pools around here."

he chuckled, "who said it was a pool."

Her eyes widened, "you said the foutain wasn't deep enough."

his grin grew, "its not,"

"My name is Audrey. Who are you?" she replied, leaning her head against the wall.

"So where are we going?" Brit asked

Loren grinned, "the docks."

"I'm...Liem." he replied stepping closer to the wall, " why are you here?"

"Is that safe?" She asked, her eyes wide.

he smiled and pulled away just a bit, "we will see wont we."

"I got caught." She replied simply. "You?"
Before he could answer a large tray of food was brought in by a young woman. She set it on the table. "If you need anything else, just knock on the door. We'll be down to look after you. Someone will take you to a washroom where you can clean yourself up tomorrow."

he smiled, " thank you so much...the" he hesitated a minute, "the girl next door...why is she here?"

"She was caught with an ex-Union worker. She's being detained for questioning." The young woman replied. "She doesn't seem to understand that the Union exists to help the citizens of the world. She seems determined that we have done no good for the people." She shook her head sadly.

Brit grinned, "ok, lead the way."

The walk wasn't a long one but it took them out of the incredibly over lit streets of the main square. Down one of the docs over the water.

He nodded, " being out there...you hear a lot of things."

Brit looked down at the water. "How cold do you think it is?" She asked as she leaned over the edge and looked at the water

"We're doing our best to show her that they're nothing but rumors," the woman replied with a smile. "Let us know if you need anything else," she motioned to the tray. "Good night, citizen," she said before stepping out of the room again.

" excuse me" he said before she left. "..uhm...could I...share my dinner with my neighbor...or...someone?" He looked down at his big hands," you don't run into a whole lot of folks out there. Its...been a while since I...shared a meal with anyone." He sighed, " its been a while since I had a meal at all and I just...not wanting to be lone." The truth in his words were undeniable.

The woman was startled by the request. "I... I suppose that would be fine," the woman said slowly. There were no protocols for that, but the woman wasn't violent and had to be craving human contact as well. Plus, this would show both of them that the Union was trying to help, and that it was truly a kind organization at heart. "Someone will bring her in." she said before leaving.
A few minutes later, a tired and sort of scruffy looking young woman was escorted into the cell by a larger man. The door closed behind her and she sighed.
"That was pretty stupid. Though I do appreciate the human contact."

His eyebrows pulled together, " stupid... How?"
