Nicholas shook his head. "It's really fine. You don't need to get in the middle of his alpha male preening. He'll be fine."

"Alright, if you're sure," brit said. "But if he bothers you let me know."

Nicholas gave her an assuring smile. "Really. Don't worry about it."

Brit smiled back. "I'll try not to, but you're the best assistant I've ever had so I don't want to lose you."

"He's not going to scare me away from my job," Nicholas tried to assure her.

"Good," brit said as the song eneded. "There's something I've been working on that I want to show you tomorrow."

"Oh really?" he asked. "Can I get a hint? Or are you going to make me stay up all night wondering what it could possibly be?"

She laughed, "I don't want you staying up all night." She bit her lip, thinking. "Alright , one hint. Its something my father started the work on."

Loren had tossed two more drinks back as he watched them dance. He could feel the alcohol but it wasn't doing much. He quicy drank another one and started towards the two who had stopped dancing, "mind if I cut in?" He asked though his voice had no tone of inquiry in it

"No, of course not," Brit said, forcing a smile. She'd have to talk to Nicholas more tomorrow but right now Loren's behavior was starting to annoy her

Nicholas nodded. "Alright, that's a good hint."

Loren let himself smile a decently genuine smile at Nicolas before taking brits hand and gently pulling her to the music, "so any thoughts on what else you'd like to do?" He asked

"No," she said as she danced. "Do you have any suggestions?"

Nicholas stepped back to the bar and watched the two. Yes, he was right about Loren. But would the man do anything further than this? Would he investigate? Try to figure anything out about Nicholas?

"not exactly." He said dipping her back to the music, "whatever you'd like." He smiled and brought her back up

She couldn't stop a smile from spreading across her face. "So pushing you into the fountain is still an option then?" She asked, smirking slightly

he chuckled, "if you must then yes."

"Its no fun if you'll just let me," she teased. "But I probably shouldn't, its getting late and we have work tomorrow."

"Who knew work would be my saving grace." He teased

"Don't push it," she said, poking his chest. "I could change my mind."

He liked seeing this side of her, "sorry." He playfully wiped the smile off his face, "ah darn that work."

She rolled her eyes, but was still smiling. "let's do something crazy.”

he stopped cocking his head to the side, "what did you have in mind?"

"I don't know," she admitted. "But something I wouldn't normally do, something...like swimming in the fountain?" she suggested

Nicholas finished his drink and ordered a water. With an eye on the other two, he could see that he would probably be able to leave them in a bit, which would probably overjoy the other man.

he chuckled, "its not quite deep enough to swim in."

Brit frowned, "you're right. I guess we wont be doing anything crazy then."

he smiled," I wouldn't be so sure."

"Do you have an idea?" She asked, a smile starting to form

"We do live in...former Boston."

Brit nodded, "and you've lived here longer than I have. So what can we do?"

"Well you said you wanted to go swimming right?"

Nicholas slipped over to their conversation at that moment. "I have to get going," he told Brit with a sad smile. "Early morning tomorrow," he nodded to Loren.

he couldn't help but shivering against the cooling night air. he only had the tshirt on his back. they had sent him away with nearly nothing. it would seem more authentic. the summer was coming to a slow end. a few more weeks and fall would start to show its face. he stared at the front door. how could he go in? how in the world could he pretend like that?

Liam was just finishing up for the night and turned off all his screens. They'd promised him late nights and early mornings and they had delivered. He'd been working hard to keep the city monitored and set up new check points for the citizens.
When he exited the building, it was right into the face of a citizen. Or... Not a citizen. He was too dirty, too ragged looking for one of the clean cut citizens who the Union approved of. He looked the man up and down and cleared his throat. "You'd better come with me." The tall analyst tried to sound tough, but his slim frame showed his lack of force.

"I'm not..." he paused for a moment wanting to take a swing at the guy but he didn't. he was too hungry to look angry or to be angry for more than a second, "I'm not part of the....whatever you call it. I'm not...." he as terrified and it showed...probably for the best too

Liam showed him into the building. "What aren't you a part of? The Resistance?"

"If that's what you call it." he said with a slight shrug

If he wasn't part of the resistance, then Liam could afford to be a bit nicer to the man. "What is your name, citizen?"

"Liem," he said followed by a great big hello from his empty stomach
