The Union RPG

He nodded. "Sounds good." He grabbed that file and pulled it open.

"I'll gather what we need," she said. Brit started assembling everything they needed.

He nodded and began to help, pulling the vials and beakers from the cabinets.

"Okay, the first thing we need to do is add the first three chemicals to one vial," she said

Nicholas followed her directions with very precise movements, he wanted this project to do well.

Brit grabbed is hand before he could put the next chemical in, "wait a moment."

He paused. "What?" he asked, looking down at her hand on his. That was different...

Her eyes were fixed on the vial, "it should be bubbling." She looked confused. "I don't know why its not."

He frowned. He had been following the instructions. "Why isn't it?" he asked, putting the chemical to the side.

She stirred the contents of the vial for a moment and bubbles started to form. "There, its working now. I guess it just took a moment."

Nicholas looked at the formula, concerned. "I suppose so."

"It shouldn't have though, it should have worked right away," she covered her mouth with the back of her hand as she yawned.

"Maybe we're both just too tired to keep working on this," he suggested.

"I think you might be right," Brit agreed. "maybe we should call it a night."

Nicholas nodded and began to put the chemicals away. "Yes, I'd hate to blow something up on accident."

Brit smiled, "that would be bad, very very bad."

"Yeah, I don't think I want to deal with that," he replied. Once the chemicals were all put away, he tossed his gloves out and pulled off his coat.

Paige shrugged her coat off and hung it up before pulling her gloves off. "Tomorrow we'll work on the supplements more."

He nodded and pulled their jackets off the hook. He offered hers.

She took it and pulled it on, shoving her hands into her pockets. "See you tomorrow."

He nodded and headed out of the building. He should call in tonight, though there were few updates. They'd told him about a new operative coming in soon, but he didn't know who or when they'd be.

Brit turned the lights in the lab off and headed up to her appartment.

"Did you hear that?" Audrey stood, looking around. She could have sworn she heard something in another room, it sounded like footsteps.

Xander froze and nodded. That wasnt good

"Who could it be?" she asked softly. "We should get out of here," she added.

He nodded," don't want to run into union."

She agreed and headed through the other door, trying to walk as lightly as possible. "I haven't seen them out in a while," she whispered. "Or at least, not around here."

the stepped outside and around the corner stepped a man, Union obviously. in a suit, washed, and smelling like soap and decent food, "Normally we don't come to these parts," he said coolly

Audrey took a step back, as if to run back into the building, but the doorway behind them had been occupied with less glamorous looking soldiers in a black uniform.

Xander's face turned up in a scowl, "Loren." he hissed
"Xander, long time no see." Loren said smoothly, " I thought you were dead...really didn't think a defector taking nothing would survive for long. So imagine my surprise when we saw you two today on the cameras. You should be more careful." he wsn't mocking. he didn't like this...at all

Of course, him being a defector was old news, but Audrey was startled that he knew the man who had found them. "You know him?" Audrey hissed, mentally cursing herself for cultivating a friendship with the man.

"Everyone knows Loren or at least everyone fears him," he replied, "don't they Loren?"
"I do what I have to."
"You do SO much more!" Xander barked the men behind them shifting ready to take them down, "Men, women, even children at times." Loren looked a bit surprised, "Oh yes...your fame proceeds you...why do you think I defected?"

"Children? That's-" she wanted to saw that she didnt think it was possible, but she had seen herself that it was. "How dare you! They're innocents!"

the man behind her acted quickly the tazer sending electricity through her body

Her body jerked from the shot of the electricity and she collapsed to the ground, groaning in pain.

"Was that absolutely necessary!?" Xander asked kneeling down beside her
"She made it necessary." Loren replied simply. one of the men heaved her up over his shoulder, "don't make us put you down too." Xander stood up and followed without objection

Audrey was vaguely aware that things were still going on, but it all went in one ear and out the other. She felt like she'd been hit over the head and gotten the wind knocked out of her in the same moment.

They were escorted to two separate holding cells. Xander had no idea what ws going on with Audrey. this was all his fault

It hadn't taken too long for her to regain full conciseness, but now she paced, back and forth. She didnt want to be union, she didnt want them to relocate her to an "appropriate" home, work in a union school and do everything the union said until she died. That was a horrible future. How had this happened? She should have just stayed solitary. Tht would have been the smart decision.

"I see you are awake." Loren said as he walked into the cell, " how's your head?"
