Harry scraped the left overs into the muck bucket and the hands went outside to start the daily work
Jeb nodded and handed her a piping hot potato, " don't sweat it."

She took the potato and slipped it from hand to hand while it cooled.
Marshal chuckled, watching this action.

Summer woke about half an hour later, knowing that if she didn't get up now she would be in for it, especially with Jeb, Marshall, and Lucy gone. She got and hurried into the bathroom to get ready for the day. She put her face on and wore a apricot colored henley top with jeans and her dark orange boots. She had to work outside today. YUCK. She nwalked downstairs and hated the way the steps creaked as she walked down them. This home was just so ugh.

She went into the kitchen to find that she missed breakfast. She rolled her eyes and walked outsdie to find Harry.

Jeb was also quite amused though he focused on his potato

Harry was feeding the pigs, " I thought I'd have to come drag you out of bed by your feet."

Once it was cool enough to eat, Lucy did so quickly so they could get going.
Marshal did the same.

"So in other words you want me to go back to bed?" she asked, with a small smirk in her mind. She got the food for one of the pregnant cattle they had, and went in the barn to see her. "Here's your breakfast May" she told the white cow that had black spots/smudges all over her back. They had had her since she was a calf.

Harry had been momentarily tempted to throw some of the slop on her but refrained.


Jeb cinched up his saddle. everything was packed up and the fire was out, " you two ready?"

Summer went on to feed the chickens in the chicken coop and came back out when she was finished. Feeding the chickens was her least favorite chore. THey chickens were so annoying inside the coop, all making noise at once and wanting food.

Lucy nodded as she swung herself into the saddle. "Ready, boss."
Marshall checked his saddle one more time. "Yeah, I'm set," he said as he pulled himself into the saddle and gathered the bridle in his hands.

"I need help stacking the hay," he said without hardly even looking at her as he headed for the barn

Summer followed him into the barn, over to the hay.

Jeb nodded and off they were again. they had let the cattle out of the home made corral and were herding them home

Harry put on his gloved, " I'm not Jeb so...no whining."

"I am not whining, thank you very much" she said to her year older brother. He made her so angry sometimes, especially back in high school when guys asked her out.

It was easy to ride towards home, Marshal could tell both of his older siblings were glad to be on their way home. It would be good to see the others again, even if it did mean listening to Summer complain.

"Really?" he asked taking a hay bail off of the truck, " because to those of us listening it sure sounds like whining

Jeb cracked his whip once to turn the cattle
