he smiled, " ok...I'll do that...if I decide to get it." he said with a chuckle

Jaimie had managed to retreat to her room after only a few hours of listening to her mother talk about Nice. But, before she was able to shut the door behind her, her mother told her that they were all going to go out to dinner tonight, so she needed to dress up and look nice. Jaimie groaned and fell backwards on her bed. Going out to dinner with her mother was one of the last things she wanted to do right now. Desperately, she wished she had an excuse to get out of dinner.

Peter, after fuming, was almost smiling. he had kissed her...that was a step. he just needed to not give up

A few hours later, Jaimie was ready. Sasha took her hand as they left the apartment, then when they got into the car that had come to pick them up. They were going to one of the fanciest resturants in the city, Jaimie's mother always insisted that they go there whenever she came home from a trip.

Peter was bored so he decided to bug Jaimie, you busy? he texted

unfortunately. dinner with my mom. but if you give me 15, I can get out of it. Jaimie replied. She looked over to her mother, who was chatting on the phone with someone.

he raised an eyebrow. yesterday at school she hadn't seemed interested in him at all, where are you? i'll come pick you up

meet me outside Le Bernardin she replied, giving him the name of the resturant where they were going. "Momma," she said, her voice sounding soft and pathetic, "I don't feel so well... when we get to the resturant, I think I'm going to get a taxi and just go home and lie down."
Her mother pursed her lips and sighed. "Ma chere, I want to have dinner with you,"
"Tomorrow, mama, I promise," she replied. Her mother relented and agreed to let Jaimie leave.

Peter sat in the Taxi waiting for her. he didn't get out but sat in the car

As soon as her mother and her little sister were inside, Jaimie got into the taxi with Peter, straightening the flounces on her little white dress.

"Dressed to the nines are we?" he asked wiht a grin

"Mama demands it," she replied, crossing her ankles primly.

he nodded, " well I have to say you look very nice."

"I know," she replied with a shrug. If he had any plans for getting lucky tonight, he was going to be sorely disappointed. She fully intended on teasing him into frustration, then leaving.

he looked her up and down once then looked out the window, " so where to?"
