Ben got out and opened her door for her
" Does he always do that?" Caleb asked

"Unless I get out first," she answered with a soft roll of her eyes.

Caleb took a moment before he responded, ' you don't like that?'

"No, I do like it. I don't know... It just makes me smile, cause he's nothing like what people say."

Caleb nodded, " Aj..can I talk to you for a second?"

"Of course," AJ nodded, her face a little concerned.

Ben's eyebrows pulled together over his eyes but he didn't move

Caleb started to walk to put a little distane between them and Ben

AJ followed him, a little concerned. "What's up Caleb?"

"AJ I want to think the best of my Dad its just...I have..." he paused, " how is my dad really?"

She looked at him. "Your dad is amazing. Absolutely. Caleb, a lot of people say a lot of bad things about him, but... he is not the same as he used to be. I wouldn't change anything about him, he's amazing."

Calb ooked somany years older than he really was, " Then...I mean..shy did he leave my mom??"

"He didn't know she was pregnant, I don't think," AJ said. "And he was young and... not who he is now."

Caleb shuffled his feet, " Yeah I guess." he said kicking his feet against the pavement, " I like you a lot AJ and I want my dad...I don't know what to think. he's great to me I just...I don't know"

"Caleb, we just want you to be happy," she said softly. "He is very different than he was 10 years ago."

he nodded, " yeah, yeah I guess not." he looked up aat her, " thanks AJ."
