| Soon Vivien and Morgan were seated with the other Goddess-worshippers, eating simple foods like bread, apples and cheese. The highest-ranking male present, a warrior named Garlon who was more or less kept in reserve in case the rest ever needed someone to organize them for a physical defense against foes, raised a question:
"Great Lady Vivien, with all respect, will you consent to tell this gathering what new event or undertaking you and Lady Morgan have been preparing for these last two or three days?"
Vivien exchanged a glance with her niece, then answered Garlon: "We prepare for an action which will promote the peace of all Britain, and which will uphold the prestige of Avalon. Be patient a little longer, and all of you shall be told about it in full." |

| Morgan looked down at her food while Vivian exsplained. She hoped that Arthur and Merlin would be here soon so that they could relay their plan to the others. She did not like keeping secrets esspessuly one's that she thought would be a lot of help in the end. _________________ I am Samiamianther! Or Sami or Sam... What ever floats ye boat.... | To make Morgan aware that she was not forgotten during this, Vivien pressed her knee against Morgan's knee under the table. Then, since apple cider is partly water, she whispered softly into her cup of cider; and the next time the younger sorceress took a sip of her own cider, she heard Vivien's words echoing into her ears from inside her own mouth:
"I would tell them more, if not for Garlon. I am uneasy about him, because I know that he is on good terms with Morgawse--and in some ways has a more aggressive spirit. Although Morgawse already knows and accepts our intention to give Excalibur to Arthur, Garlon might do something disruptive if HE knew now." |

| When Mogan next took a drink she could hear the words of Vivian. She then gave a slight nod and carried on talking with the others. _________________ I am Samiamianther! Or Sami or Sam... What ever floats ye boat.... Thanks Kayla! |

| When breakfast had ended....and after Garlon had left the hall....Erichtho approached the two highest-ranking persons on the island. "Great ladies, pardon me if I intrude, but my heart tells me that something is troubling each of you, though I know not if it be the same problem for you both. Is there any way I can help?"
Vivien drew Erichtho within whispering range--security enough, now that Garlon had left. "Y es, dear girl, you can help. I distrust Garlon, and want his attention on harmless things. You know that your friend Brisinga is the best of our young learners after yourself; please talk to her privately, tell her of Arthur's coming, and instruct her in my name to go with her two huntsmen brothers to the mainland and look for any signs of Arthur's approach. Then I want you yourself to occupy Garlon with a distracting errand: have him inspect all boats and piers around the shores of this island, making sure they are secure against the impending winter. Then I can attend to other matters with my niece."
Erichtho bowed. "All shall be as you say, my lady." |

| Morgan smiled. Checking all of that would keep him busy for a while. They had a great many between them. He is also very clerical and checks everythign for every eventuality. Morgan was exsited to think about makeing a new spell with her Aunt. This would be special. _________________ I am Samiamianther! Or Sami or Sam... What ever floats ye boat.... Thanks Kayla! |

| Vivien could feel Morgan's excitement, and it was contagious. As soon as they were outside again and away from the others, Vivien swept Morgan into a tight, squeezing embrace and kissed her with great feeling. Then, still holding her very close: "Nonsense to wait until after Arthur comes. Who is more important to me than you? Let us go a little farther into the wood, and begin at once." Y et she was reluctant to let go of Morgan, even simply to walk. She could also feel Morgan's dread of their being parted, a feeling she shared. |

| "The difference, where we are concerned, is what things our magic is most likely to be able to affect. It is far easier to exert your will upon a non-living object like an arrow in flight, than upon a living man who has a will of his own. You have heard accounts of Merlin being able to survive having eight or ten warriors hacking at him; but going by all that I hear, even he is unable to control by magic the movements of those warriors. Instead, he is able to make _himself_ so quick that he can dodge all the attacks. Thus, for a first self-defense enchantment for you, I deem it wise for you to fix your mind upon objects hurled or shot, objects no longer held in the hand of a foe who has his own will to oppose your will." |

| On the same day as Morgan le Fey was trying her hand at composing a new magical spell, Arthur, Merlin and Gawain covered most of the remaining distance to Vivien's Lake. Shortly after they pitched camp, Merlin announced that they were about to have a visitor. Brisinga, one of the sorceresses in training on the Isle of Avalon, entered the campsite in what she thought was undetectable stealth, to find Merlin already looking at her when she revealed herself. But this was a friendly visit, and the girl quickly recovered her poise. "King Arthur and Lord Merlin!" (She ignored Gawain, who hated being ignored by a beautiful maiden.) "When you approach my lady's freshwater haven tomorrow, you will be met by one of my peers, the maiden Erichtho. She will show you a boat which may be used for the receiving of Excalibur from the water. While our own intent is friendly--and Merlin would know if it were not--there is always the possibility of dangers not of our making. Thus, Lady Vivien suggests that Merlin stay on shore keeping watch, while his King and the youth row out to receive the sword." "It shall be as your lady advises," replied Merlin. "And accept my assurance that I would have sent Vivien a message sooner, had I not foreknown that we would meet you." Brisinga soon was on her way home, rejoined at a distance by Welsh woodsmen who had escorted her from Avalon, but who had feared to come near Merlin |

| Hey Everyone, on this forum we do have a two week policy that if there are no new posts in an RPG for two weeks the RPG gets scrapped and this one hasn't had any posts for over a month. so here is your warning. if there are no pertinent posts posted in here for the next two days then this RPG is going bye-bye _________________ well now that its Monday I felt I needed to update. I have bronchitis so I won't be on for a few more days. sorry. |

| Back at Camelot, Sir Kay the Seneschal was juggling the routine daily needs of Camelot's occupants with the anticipated needs of the feasting which would accompany the impending nuptials of Arthur and Guinevere. One measure he took was to call a two-week halt to all hunting of deer and wild pigs in those forest regions directly bound to the Crown. During this interval, there would be more dependence on less-prestigious preserved foods, even for nobility like himself. Thus, when the royal wedding drew near, there would be more wild game available in the woods to become fresh meat on the tables of the great hall.
In this connection, it was an indirect diplomatic gesture to King Rhience of Wales when, as Rhience's messenger Brannig prepared to start for home, Sir Kay gave him leave to be the very last man to shoot a deer in Arthur's forest from now until the end of the suspension of hunting. |

"Ah, I see. That makes more sence now. This is why no one can just hurt a worrior or get them to hurt themself or another. I see. So the arrows and the swords are what I should be focusing on. "_________________ I am Samiamianther! Or Sami or Sam... What ever floats ye boat.... Thanks Kayla! |

| "The arrows more than the swords, darling. Remember what I just said about a sword being still in its owner's direct control. I do not say that it is _impossible_ to do anything against the warrior himself and the weapon he actually holds; but it is much _easier_ to affect the object in the air." Vivien picked up a tiny twig and playfully tossed it to bounce harmlessly off her niece's shoulder. "That, you will soon be brushing aside. THIS...." She stepped in with a smile and embraced Morgan again. "....is not as easy to fight off." |
