Ranjit hadn't thought that Glenda needed to miss the sermon; but right now he was more concerned about whether the best man and maid of honor would be here. His mind barely took in the presence of Dakota, sitting closely squeezed between Tiziano on her left and Giulietta on her right.

The afternoon's patrol held no major incidents for Jack.

GLenda hung her dress up and paced for a little bit then went back to the sactuary and found Ranjit nd sat down next to him

As soon as Glenda returned to him, Ranjit felt less worried about the attendants. At least he had the ring to put onto Glenda. He took hold of her left hand, which already wore the former engagement ring of Mrs. Peaters, and kissed that precious third finger.

Chapel ministry in the rehab center on this Sunday was provided by a hard-leftwing Lutheran woman pastor, whose message was that Jesus' pacifistic teachings were intended for absolutely unlimited application, making a murderer out of every soldier....or policeman....who EVER took a life for ANY reason. Officer Danny Alyard, N.Y.P.D., sat enduring this graciously. He was helped by Tashonda's hand clasping his, and by three-year-old Jackson climbing onto his knee early in the service.

Remembering the night they had watched the Sophia Loren movie, Dakota laid her head on Giulietta's shoulder. Giulietta, intuitively realizing what the younger woman was remembering, put an arm around Dakota and--as on that night--kissed the top of her head. This replaying of a tender memory would itself be a healing memory that Giulietta would be able to carry with her to Missouri.

Meanwhile, Josiah Redfern was also wondering where Lenny and Sam were.

Lowell Sanders had a long ride back to his apartment from the campus. He would not normally go cycling in weather this cold; but now, it helped distract his mind a little from how much he already missed Lolita. An unexpected voice in his head pointed out that he could have achieved the same tenderness with Elvira, or with Jessica, if he had bothered to try; but he dismissed that voice. It was a voice he had never wanted to hear.

SAm went back to her dorm, grabbed her clothes for the wedding, and filled her dad in on the way to the church about GLenda and Ranjit

SAm ran up the steps. "Just sit where ever you want, I have to go change," she gave her father a quick hug and ran off to get changed
