Leslie smiled and went back to her bed, she sat down. She had an idea for a poem for Scott. He always liked looking at her poetry. So she would write one for him.

Swinging James and Candice around for a finale, Ranjit carefully "dumped" them on the couch. Then he sat cross-legged, swami fashion, on the floor in front of the older boys. " I need to show you something;" and he took an ordinary folded sheet of paper out of his pocket, unfolding it as if the action were something important.

The two boys looked at he paper trying to see if there was anything partucularly special about it

he didn't like the tone in her voice, " So ew shoudl probablyget on buying you that dress fdor Lolita's party."

As the two boys--and the other children, for that matter--watched mystified, Ranjit held up the blank sheet of paper. " Now, boys, watch this;" and he ripped the paper in half down the middle. Handing one piece to Sammy and one to Timmy, he asked them, "If you had some tape, could you put the pieces together again?"

Both boys nodded, wondering where this was leading.

" BUT....can you put the pieces back together by tearing them some more?"

This time they answered aloud: "No, Ranchy."

"Can you put the pieces back together by burning them?"

" No, Ranchy."

"Can you put them back together by stomping your feet on them?"

" No, Ranchy."

"Can you put them back together by biting them?"

" No, Ranchy."
